EVENT ONE
17 November 2020
This combination, online and face to face event examines what the future of food will look like in Canberra and the surrounding region. Selling more local food in Canberra and other markets will be explored – and what needs to be done to make it easier. Why is farming in a city any different from farming further afield? There are new business opportunities and new skills will be needed, new technologies and new business models. Understanding the interaction of Clean Energy, Food, Water and Soils is critical for creating a resilient food system.
The message is clear: we have a right to reliable, cheaper, more plentiful and fresher food employing more people.

EVENT TWO
(Preliminary and Subject to Change)
16 May 2021
The complex interactions in the food supply chain means policy makers need to think at a system-wide level to plan effectively. There are major business opportunities to be garnered, both in the city and in the surrounding regions, provided ‘last mile’ transport and logistics issues are solved. People demand to know where their food comes from and they want less negative environment and more positive social impact. The massive increase in investment flows in ‘Urban Agtech’ and innovative urban and sustainable farm production tell their own story.
The message is clear: prepare now for more climate change, pandemic and other threats to our food supply chain.
